Prime and base rates
The following are the reference rates we use to set the interest rate for our products.
Desjardins prime rate1
4.45%
Rate based on the Bank of Canada’s policy interest rate. We use this rate to set the variable interest rates on our lines of credit and personal loans.
Desjardins personal base rate
5.95%
Rate previously used to set variable interest rates on our lines of credit and personal loans. We still use this rate for certain products acquired before June 21, 2025.
Desjardins US prime rate2
7.50%
Rate based on the US Federal Reserve’s key interest rate. This rate is used to determine variable interest rates for Desjardins Bank mortgages and for certain business financing products.
