5 tips for writing your résumé

  • Tailor your resume using keywords from the job posting and requirements
  • Highlight your relevant academic, professional and personal achievements
  • Use strong action verbs and avoid using acronyms or technical language
  • Attach a clear, well-structured résumé that reflects who you are
  • Provide additional details about your related experience

 Step 2.  of 5Screening interview

This interview takes about 30 minutes. It gives us a chance to see whether your experience and professional interests align with the job. This step may or may not be required.


 Step 3.  of 5Selection interview

This interview is more of a conversation. It’s also a chance for us to evaluate your relevant skills. Possible interview formats include:

  • A 45-to-60-minute one-on-one interview
  • A 2-hour group interview to see how you work in a team and how well you apply the behaviours expected when dealing with members and clients.

Some jobs also require you to take a test.

5 strategies for a successful interview

  • Be prepared to share your career history and relevant past work experience in detail.
  • Listen carefully to the questions and ask the recruiter to repeat or reformulate as needed.
  • Provide concrete examples of your skills and achievements along with background information, objectives, tasks, actions and results.
  • Feel free to ask questions about the job, the work environment and next steps.
  • Use positive language to highlight what you learned rather than the challenges you encountered.

Tips for a successful video interview

  • Test your equipment before the call.
  • Find a quiet, distraction-free environment.
  • Choose a brightly lit space with a neutral background.
  • Make eye contact with your interviewers by looking into the camera.

 Step 4.  of 5Follow-up from the recruiter

If you’re chosen as a good candidate for the job, we’ll ask you to provide references and undergo routine checks. These 2 steps are required for all selected candidates and do not guarantee that you’ll receive a job offer.

 Step 5.  of 5Job offer

We will present you with a full compensation package including salary, bonus, vacation, group insurance and more. This is the time to ask about pay and benefits.

What is Workday?

Workday is the online platform where you can apply for jobs and track your application. You can also create job alerts to receive updates. To create an account, open Workday External link.. select Sign In, then Create an account.

Do I need a cover letter?

It’s not required, but it’s useful if you want to mention something that’s not on your résumé. It may also be a good way to prepare for an eventual interview by reflecting on why this job interests you.

What do I do if I can’t log in to Workday?

If you can’t log in, select Forgot your password?, enter the email address linked to your account, then select Reset password.

Are there any internships available?

Yes. We have several internships and student jobs available, depending on the time of year.

Will I receive progress updates about my application status?

Yes. You’ll be notified in 1 of 2 ways.

If you’re selected to move on to the next stage, our recruitment team will contact you by email or phone.

If you’re not selected during the initial stages, you’ll receive an automated email letting you know.

Didn’t get an email? Check your spam or junk folder. We make sure to follow up with all candidates at every stage of the hiring process.

Where can I find information on Desjardins's salary ranges?

Details about our salary ranges or job levels is not public.

Feel free to ask about them in an interview. If you receive a job offer, your manager will present your full compensation package.

I live outside Canada. Can I apply for a job at Desjardins?

Yes. To work in Canada, you must follow the immigration requirements in effect.

Does Desjardins recognize diplomas from outside Canada?

Yes. You may be required to obtain academic equivalencies as part of the hiring process, but they are not required for immigration purposes.
