Desjardins provides $750,000 in funding to the Fondation Michel-Sarrazin

September 15, 2025

Quebec City, September 15, 2025 — Desjardins is partnering with the Fondation Michel-Sarrazin’s flagship campaign, Les fins de vie sont plus douces à la Maison, and contributing $750,000 contribution to this worthy initiative. This support was made possible by the GoodSpark Fund and 21 Desjardins caisses in the greater Quebec City area. With this contribution, Desjardins has become a major partner of this charitable campaign, which aims to raise $12 million by 2027 to ensure the long-term sustainability and development of the Michel-Sarrazin organization’s work.

“Our support for the expansion of the Maison Michel-Sarrazin through the GoodSpark Fund and the Quebec caisses does much more than simply increase its capacity. We’re creating a space of comfort, dignity and humanity for people in end-of-life care and their loved ones. This project will enhance the resources available to healthcare providers across Quebec and support thousands of families through one of the most emotional stages of life. For 125 years, Desjardins has been reiterating its commitment to projects that make a real difference in people’s lives. We’re very proud of what we’re doing,” said Nathalie Larue, Executive Vice-President, Personal Services and Community Life.

“We’re all extremely touched by Desjardins’s support for our campaign. It’s about more than the money. Desjardins is recognizing the human value of our mission and showing a genuine desire to support people in end-of-life care and their loved ones. This partnership means our work to ensure the sustainability of specialized palliative care in Quebec can now take a decisive step forward, in particular by expanding the activities of the Institut de soins palliatifs et de fin de vie Michel-Sarrazin – Université Laval,” said Jean G. Morency, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Michel-Sarrazin.

This contribution means we’ll be able to deliver on three essential aspects of the project:

  • Expanding and modernizing Maison Michel-Sarrazin’s facilities to improve living environments for patients and their families, enhance clinical and community spaces, and adapt infrastructure to current needs.
  • Offering additional services, including an integrated palliative care outpatient clinic and an at-home respite service, to better meet the needs of people with cancer who are in end-of-life care and support their loved ones.
  • Developing the Institut de soins palliatifs et de fin de vie Michel-Sarrazin – Université Laval, which aims to structure and promote the organization’s expertise in palliative care through training, research and knowledge transfer.

For nearly 40 years, the Maison Michel-Sarrazin has been caring for patients with terminal cancer and their loved ones, ensuring that they can live out their lives in peace and dignity.

At an event held on September 12 at the Maison Michel-Sarrazin, the Foundation recognized Desjardins’s commitment and key role in making this meaningful campaign a success.
