Can I have an authorized user on my individual account?

Yes. You can add authorized users to your individual account.

Joint credit card accounts

I have a joint credit card account. Is it still valid?

Yes, your account will remain joint. You and your joint cardholder will both remain jointly and severally liable for all debts on the account after the modernization of the credit card system is complete.

Will we be able to keep our joint cardholder status once the credit card system modernization is complete?

Yes. You’ll be able to keep your joint account if you already have one.

What does joint and several liability mean? Does it mean each cardholder is responsible for their own purchases?

No, it means each cardholder is responsible for the entire debt on the account, regardless of who carried out the transactions.

Can authorized users manage the account in the same way as the primary cardholder?

No, authorized users don’t have account management rights, only cardholders do.

Can I add a joint cardholder to an existing credit card account?

No. You can no longer add a joint cardholder to an existing account.  This option is temporarily unavailable but will be reintroduced in the next few months.

In the meantime, you can open a credit card account in your name, add an authorized user and give them full access.

Can I open a new joint credit card?

Yes, you can still open a joint credit card. Once the modernization begins in October, you’ll temporarily not be able to open a new credit card with a joint cardholder until we integrate the feature into the new system.

While this option is unavailable, you can still open a credit card account in your name, add an authorized user and give them full access.

Can I remove myself as cardholder from a joint credit card account?

Yes, you can remove yourself as a joint cardholder from a credit card account. Roles for credit card holders

What are the available roles for cardholders?

After our system is full modernized, cardholders will have 1 of 3 roles: primary cardholder, joint cardholder or authorized user. Rights and responsibilities depend on which role you have.

Cardholders (primary cardholders and joint cardholders):

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Can use the entire available limit
  • Can redeem BONUSDOLLARS

Authorized users:

  • Are 12 years or older
  • Can use the entire available limit but can’t change the limit
  • Can’t redeem BONUSDOLLARS

Responsibility for debt on the accountCardholders are jointly and severally liable for the entire account debt, regardless of who made the transactions.

The primary cardholder2 is the only person responsible for the debt on the account.

Authorized users aren’t responsible for paying off the debt on the account.

The cardholder is responsible for the debt and transactions on their account.
Account management

Cardholders share management of the account and both have access to all the transactions.

You need approval of both cardholders to:

  • Increase the credit limit
  • Change card type
  • Add an authorized user

The primary cardholder is the only person who can manage the account. They have access to all the transactions, whereas authorized users only see their own transactions.

Once our new system is launched in October, the primary cardholder will be able to grant one or more authorized users the right to view:

  • All transactions made
  • The available credit
  • The balance
The cardholder manages their own account.
