What vehicles do we cover?
We insure most commercial vehicles, but some aren't eligible due to the risks related to their use, their vehicle type or goods transported.
Basic coverage
Civil Liability
This insurance covers:
- Damage to someone else's property from an accident that's your fault
- Third-party bodily injuries that aren't covered by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) from an accident that's your fault (for example, bodily injuries that happened outside Québec)
- Damage to your commercial vehicle from an accident that's someone else's fault
The coverage amount required by law to cover damage caused by accidents may vary depending on the intended use of the vehicle. Contact us to find out what amount is best for you.
Example
You're a contractor driving to a construction site. A driver runs a stop sign and crashes into your truck. We cover the cost of repairing your vehicle.
Accident Benefits
Provides coverage for:
- Medical, rehabilitation and funeral expenses
- Death and loss of income benefits
You can opt for enhanced coverage for the following benefits:
- Income replacement benefits
- Medical, rehabilitation and attendant care benefits
- Death and funeral expense benefits
Direct Compensation Property Damage
Provides coverage for:
- Costs for damage caused by another vehicle to your vehicle in an accident that isn't your fault
- A percentage of costs if the accident is partially your fault
With this coverage, you always work directly with your insurer, even though someone else is held liable for the accident.

You're a contractor driving to a construction site. A driver runs a stop sign and crashes into your truck. We cover the cost of repairing your vehicle.
Uninsured Motorist Coverage
Provides coverage for:
- You if you're injured or lose your life in an accident caused by an uninsured motorist or hit-and-run driver
- Certain damage to your vehicle from an accident caused by an identified but uninsured driver
Example
A car hits your minivan while making a lane change. The driver’s car hasn’t been insured for 6 months. We still cover the cost of repairing your minivan.
Collision or Upset
This covers damage to your commercial vehicle and any attached equipment, such as a lift or hydraulic arm:
- If you're in an at-fault accident with another vehicle or object
- If your vehicle rolls over
- If you're struck by a hit-and-run driver
Example
You enter a client's parking lot and hit a light post. Your truck's bumper is damaged. We cover the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged parts.
All Perils Other Than Collision or Upset
Covers damage to your commercial vehicle from events like:
- Fire, theft or vandalism
- Auto glass breakage
- Certain weather events
- Collision with an animal or person
Example
You're on your way to do landscaping work at a client's home. A rock hits your windshield and cracks it. We cover the cost of repairing the glass.
Optional coverages
For a new vehicle: 5-Year Replacement Cost
Keeps your new commercial vehicle from losing value for up to 5 years from the purchase date.
- If your vehicle is declared a total loss, meaning it would cost more to fix it than it's worth, we replace it with a new vehicle with similar features.
- If your vehicle is declared a partial loss, damaged parts that can't be repaired are replaced with new ones.
- If your vehicle is stolen, we replace it with a new vehicle with similar features. If your vehicle is stolen and then found, we pay for the repair of damages.
Most new commercial vehicles are eligible for this coverage, including heavy vehicles such as trucks that transport construction materials.
For used vehicles: Value Plus Option
The Value Plus OptionTM keeps your used vehicle from losing value for up to 5 years in the event of total or partial loss.
If your vehicle is declared a total loss, we cover one of the following, depending on what you choose when you get your insurance:
- The price you paid for your vehicle, increased by 5% per year
- The value of your vehicle at the time of the loss, increased by 10% per year
If your vehicle is declared a partial loss, we repair or replace the damaged parts and cover their loss of value, up to $1,000.
Most new commercial vehicles are eligible for this coverage, including heavy vehicles such as trucks that transport construction materials.
Travel Costs
This coverage pays for travel expenses after an insured accident prevents you from using your commercial vehicle.
Reimburses you:
- If you need to take a taxi, use public transit or rent a vehicle after an insured loss
- For meals and accommodation if the loss occurs while you're travelling in Canada or the US
The coverage amount varies depending on the type of vehicle insured.
Damage to Someone Else's Vehicle
Covers you up to $100,000 if you have an accident with a vehicle or trailer rented or borrowed for a short period in Canada or the US.
Garage Form
Covers businesses in the automotive sector, such as garages and car washes. This specific coverage protects the vehicles that your clients entrust to you.
Example
At your garage, you move a customer's car and break a headlight. We cover the cost of repairing or replacing this part.
Vehicles Carrying Goods
The damage caused during transit to the merchandise that belongs to you is covered by your commercial property and liability insurance, if you're insured with us. The damage caused to your vehicle is covered by your commercial vehicle insurance.

Example
You pick up equipment from a supplier. On the way back to your workplace, you have an accident and the equipment is damaged. The cost of repairing or replacing this property is covered by your commercial property and liability insurance if you're insured with us.
Vehicles With a Refrigeration Unit
This coverage pays for any merchandise lost after a refrigeration unit breaks down. It's offered as an option of the Equipment Breakdown coverage with your property and liability insurance.
Example
You own a grocery store. When you're out delivering orders, your truck's refrigeration unit breaks down. The cost of repairing the unit and replacing the perishable food that was lost is covered by your commercial property and liability insurance, if you're insured with us.

Double Contract
Get up to 5% off when you insure your business and your commercial vehicles with us.
You also pay only one deductible if a single loss affects both the personal and commercial property and vehicles you have insured with us.
Multi-Vehicle
Get 15% off when you insure 2 or more commercial vehicles with us.
