FAQ
What is an insurance policy?
Your home insurance policy is the contract you have with your insurer. It outlines what situations and losses are covered by your insurance.
What is a deductible?
Your deductible is the amount you have to pay out of pocket when you make a home insurance claim. Example: Let's say you have a $500 deductible, and you incur a loss that's covered by your policy. If the repairs cost $5,000, you pay the first $500 and your insurance pays the remaining $4,500.
What is a home insurance endorsement?
An endorsement is a change to your home insurance policy, such as the addition or removal of coverage.
For example, above-ground water and weight of ice, snow or sleet (Endorsement 42) coverage extends your protection in the event of sudden or accidental damage caused by the weight of snow or ice as well as rain or melting snow seeping in above ground through places like the roof, doors or windows.
Why does my home insurance premium go up every year?
Your home insurance premium could go up due to changes in your file. It could also be impacted by factors outside your control.
