Procurement at Desjardins
Procurement at Desjardins goes well beyond the simple acquisition of products and services. It's a strategic process based on value creation that is strictly applied to generate significant and measurable benefits on the basis of total cost of ownership.
The procurement process is therefore not separate from the rest of our operations. It's carried out with the goal of making a positive contribution to Desjardins' business strategies.
That's why Desjardins has established a procurement policy that states that all acquisitions, including standardized products within the caisse network, must be made through the Procurement and Administrative Services Division.
You can count on our team of experts for business savvy and a great sense of service.
Desjardins's strategic procurement vision is based on collaborative business relationships with suppliers and on performance management.
Its goal is to include advantages for Desjardins members and employees, and to directly and positively influence the client, member and employee experience.
Our actions are guided by 3 basic principles:
- Value above and beyond the conventional
- The Desjardins mission
- Courage as the driving force behind our decisions
Transparency is the guiding principle used by procurement to manage client-supplier relationships.
And this in keeping with our values:
- Integrity
- Respect
- Courage
- Teamwork
Contributing to innovation
Our procurement division aims to be a leader at Desjardins and to innovate by maximizing value creation for our members and clients in an ongoing way and in the spirit of cooperation, to give Desjardins a sustainable competitive advantage.
It contributes to Desjardins business projects by maximizing its strength and expertise to allow suppliers to adopt an atypical and innovative business model that is above and beyond the conventional.
As a cooperative, Desjardins Group has always sought an approach to long-term development that balances the 3 dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental sustainability.
In 2005, Desjardins adopted a sustainable development policy specifying how it can integrate social responsibility and cooperation into its products, services and activities. To learn more, see our Desjardins Group Social and Cooperative Responsibility Report.
As a result of this policy, Desjardins strives to source goods and services from organizations that engage in responsible economic, social and environmental practices. Suppliers are selected based on an objective analysis of their economic, social and environmental performance. Thus, for each tender, a portion of the overall assessment is assigned to supplier performance in social responsibility and according to the following 16 criteria:
Responsible Management

- Accountability
