Climbing Kilimanjaro to support 2 good causes



Between September 23 and October 5, 2018, 12 Desjardins employees and officers will set their sights on the summit of Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. They're doing it to raise money for 2 great causes: Desjardins Foundation's youth education efforts and the Château Ramezay historic site in Montreal.

Meet the climbers:

  1. Éric Lachaîne, Executive Vice-President, Caisse Network and Member and Client Services
    • Expedition chief and initiator, running enthusiast and seasoned half-marathoner
    • Second ascent of Kilimanjaro (the first in 2014), ascent of Cayambe in Ecuador in 2016
  2. Jean Boulanger, Vice-President, HR Advisory Services, Personal and Business Services
    • Outdoor enthusiast
    • Second ascent of Kilimanjaro (the first in 2014)
  3. Michel Gamelin, General Manager, Caisse Desjardins du Centre-est de Montréal
    • Cycling enthusiast who completes multiple bike challenges every year, including the Lake St. John tour, clocking up almost 2,500 kilometres each summer (roughly the distance from Montreal to Orlando)
  4. Sylvain Trottier, Director, Complementary Network Sales
    • Outdoor enthusiast who loves sports and life in general
    • First ascent of Kilimanjaro and first high-altitude expedition
  5. Stéphane Miljours, General Manager, Caisse Desjardins de Hull-Aylmer
    • Hockey, squash and golf player who loves the outdoors, hunting and fishing
    • Leader who believes in stepping off the beaten track, taking chances and giving back
  6. David Bélanger, General Manager, Caisse Desjardins des Trois-Rivières

  11. Danny Desrosiers, leader of multiple key transformations at Desjardins Group and lecturer in the University of Sherbrooke's MBA program
