Be a mentor and help a young person find their calling

Choosing a career is a big deal. As a mentor with Academos, Desjardins Senior Information Security Advisor Julien Hivon has been helping young people do just that. Many people helped him find his calling, so now he’s paying it forward.

Here’s just one of his mentoring success stories: “I had been exchanging emails with a student who was interested in information security. We met for coffee, and I answered her questions about what schools have programs, what classes she’d need and what certification is recognized for this line of work. A few months later, she told me she’d taken the plunge and had just been accepted into an information security program. Recruiting anyone with this kind of background is challenging, let alone women, so it was really rewarding for me to help her find her way.”
