4th annual Sur le Chemin du Roy relay race
4th annual Sur le Chemin du Roy relay race
This relay race between Montreal and Lévis was originally created by a group of runners who wanted to have fun while supporting a good cause. They came up with the idea of stopping at schools along the way to make donations to Desjardins Foundation Prize projects.
Given the circumstances this year, the race's 4th edition looked a little different. On October 15 and 16, 2020, some 200 employees from Desjardins's Procurement and Administrative Services Division walked or ran in their own neighbourhoods to raise money.
A huge success
Every year the call to fundraise for the race goes out to every division employee. This year, the goal was $50,000, which was easily surpassed by the final tally of $170,000. That means more money for more programs for hundreds of young people!
"We decided to hold the event remotely, but we never imagined we'd get such amazing results. Not only did we see participation across Quebec and Ontario, but we also far surpassed our goal. The event obviously struck a chord with our financial partners, who are as interested in helping youth as we are," said Nadia Malek, vice-president for the division.
The event wouldn't have been so successful without the participation of so many employees from across Canada, not to mention the backing of our sponsors.
A big thank you to all the organizations that that are helping us make a difference for young people in our communities!
