Chantal Gagné - Biography

Executive Vice-President, Life and Health Insurance
President and Chief Operating Officer, Desjardins Financial Security

Since joining Desjardins Group in 2007, Chantal Gagné has made her mark as a unifying leader who thinks strategically and communicates with ease.

Chantal was appointed Executive Vice-President, Life and Health Insurance in September 2025. She also holds the position of President and Chief Operating Officer, Desjardins Financial Security. As part of her role, she oversees all life and health insurance operations, including:

• Individual insurance
• Group benefits and retirement savings
• Independent distribution, including partner networks and IDC and Worldsource entities

Chantal leads a sector that serves more than 5 million members, clients and partners across Canada and employs more than 4,500 people. She has proven her ability to rally teams around an overarching goal—to become the Canadian leader in member/client experience.

Chantal has a degree in actuarial science from Université Laval. She held a number of strategic positions in property and casualty insurance and life and health insurance before she was appointed Executive Vice-President, Life and Health Insurance.

Chantal is actively involved in the industry and serves on a number of boards, including the LIMRA Canadian Executive Roundtable and the board of directors for IDC Worldsource.

As part of her work in the community, Chantal sits on the board of directors for the Dr. Clown Foundation. She is also a member of the major donors’ circle for United Way in the Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches region.
