It's free to send money via Interac e-Transfer on AccèsD Affaires when you have a transaction plan with us. 3  Receiving and cancelling these transfers is always free. They expire 30 days after they're sent. 4

Send money with Interac e-Transfer for Business

To send an Interac e-Transfer on AccèsD Affaires, you need to:

  • Have a single-signature business account at Desjardins
  • Be a primary administrator on the account
  • Be registered for AccèsD Affaires and have an Interac profile
  • Know the email address or cellphone number of the person you want to send money to 2

You can send up to $10,000 per 24-hour period. Be careful when sending money: once an Interac e-Transfer is accepted by the recipient, the transaction can't be reversed.

Create an Interac profile on AccèsD Affaires
  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers. Select Create a profile.
  2. Enter your email address or cellphone number and choose your language of correspondence. Select OK.
  3. Read the terms of use, then select Confirm.

Manage transfers and recipients

Cancel a transfer free of charge and retrieve funds

You can cancel a transfer as long as it hasn't been accepted by the recipient. Transfers to people who have signed up for Autodeposit cannot be cancelled.

  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers.
  2. Under Manage active e-Transfers, select the in-progress transfer you want to cancel.
  3. Go to e-Transfer history, then select Cancel e-Transfer.
  4. To retrieve the funds, choose the deposit account and select Confirm.
Manage recipients
Add recipient
  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers.
  2. Go to the recipient list, then select Add recipient. You may be asked to enter a security code to continue.
  3. Enter the name and the email address or cellphone number of the person.
  4. Choose the language of correspondence and select Confirm.
Edit recipient information
  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers.
  2. Select the name of the person in your list of recipients.
  3. Select Edit. You may be asked to enter a security code to continue.
  4. Enter the recipient's new contact information and select Confirm.
Delete a recipient 
  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers.
  2. Select the name of the person in your list of recipients.
  3. Select Edit, then Delete recipient.
  4. Select Delete.

Receive money via Interac e-Transfer for Business

To receive money via Interac e-Transfer in your business account, give the sender one of the following:

  • Your email address
  • Your cellphone number
  • The number of the account where you want the money deposited

You can receive up to $25,000 per transfer. When someone uses your account number to send you an Interac e-Transfer, the funds are deposited automatically.

Register for Autodeposit

Autodeposit allows you to deposit money received by Interac e-Transfer into your account without logging in to AccèsD Affaires or answering a security question. You simply receive a notification confirming the deposit was made.

To sign up for Autodeposit, enter the email addresses or phone numbers you want your contacts to use and link them to the account of your choice. Funds transferred to you using these email addresses or phone numbers will always be automatically deposited into the selected account, without you having to provide the account number.

When a transfer is sent without a security question (Autodeposit), the person sending the funds is responsible for making sure that the recipient's legal name (which can be found on the e-transfer form) is correct. 

How to register for transfers by Autodeposit
  1. Select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers.
  2. Enter up to 5 email addresses or cellphone numbers you want to use to receive Autodeposit transfers.
  3. Select the account where you want to deposit the money.
  4. Follow the instructions you receive from Interac on how to confirm your registration and enable the feature within 24 hours.

Security of Interac e-Transfer for Business

Wondering if Interac e-Transfer is secure? When you use this service, the only things you'll receive by email or text are notifications or deposit instructions. Information about your account is never sent to your contact.

To better protect yourself, adopt these habits:

  • Security question: If you use one to make a transfer, make sure the answer is hard to guess, even for someone close to you. Using a security question prevents someone other than your recipient from depositing the funds.
  • Phishing: Beware of text messages and emails that ask for personal information or promise you some kind of compensation.

How do I send money using Interac e-Transfer for business?
  1. On AccèsD Affaires, select Transfers, then Interac e-Transfers. Choose the contact you want to make a transfer to, or create a new one. 
  2. Go to Recipients, then select Transfer
  3. Indicate the amount. Choose the account you want to send from (Source account) and select OK
  4. Read the terms of use, then confirm the transfer. The recipient will then receive a notification.
How much is the Interac e-Transfer fee for business?

If you have a transaction plan, there are no additional fees for sending or receiving Interac e-Transfers. They're included in your plan's transactions. However, if you exceed the number of transactions included in your plan or if you don't have a monthly plan, fees may apply.

What is the Interac e-Transfer limit for a business account?

You can send up to $10,000 per 24-hour period and receive up to $25,000 per transfer.

Can I increase my Interac e-Transfer limit?

No, it's not possible to increase your Interac e-Transfer limit.

I got a text message from the number 100001. Is it legitimate?

Yes. 100001 is the short code address used to send all Interac e-Transfer text notifications, including transfer receipt notifications and reminders to deposit funds.
